Atlanta Botanical Gardens

We had a great time meeting up with some of the mommys off of iVillage in Atlanta at the gardens. Toney and Olivia came up from Columbia and we rode with them with Amy and her girls and mom meeting us at my house and following us. Landon wasn't too sure about riding in a different car at first but quickly realized it wasn't so bad.

From what I could tell, all of the kids has a blast. Here are some pictures from the day:

Mother's Day

What a great day! I was able to sleep in a little bit and got a wonderful French Toast breakfast cooked by David. After taking my time getting dressed and getting to actually spend time on my toe nails for once instead of rushing through throwing a new coat of paint on them. David and Landon surprised me with this:
What a great gift! I totally expected David to take me to the store and tell me to pick one out, but he actually went shopping all on his own! After getting dressed, we had a delicious lunch at On The Border. YUM!
I had Steak Fajita Quesadillas. They were so yummy! After leaving there we went shopping. I had to return a shirt to New York and Company and found some other shirts at Target.

For dinner we ate with my parents and had steak, potatoes, rolls, and baked beans. We even had yummy reduced fat brownies. As a present I got this pretty flower:
It is now living on my front porch.

Counting on Fingers and Toes

Until the last school day!!!!! Including today we have 19 days of school left! I then have one work day and I am done as well! YAY!!! There is light at the end of the tunnel. I have an IEP meeting Friday morning and then another one sometime, still waiting to hear back about it and then I will be done with those! :) WOOHOO!!

Parenting Means Responsibility!

Okay, I normally talk about the things going on in my life, etc but this is really driving me nuts! I have a student who takes medicine every morning and if he doesn't he is W-I-L-D! Anyway...there have been several times when he did not take his medicine in the morning for whatever reason and we either call his mother or his mother realizes it and we get permission to give it to him at school. Well...guess what! It happened again this morning. I had had it with him coming in interrupting the entire class of working students and decided to call his mom. I spoke with her and explained how it interrupts what I have to get done in the morning and his behavior disturbs the other students in the class. I then told her it was her responsibility to make sure her child gets his medicine every morning. She then turns it on to her mother blaming it on her for not giving this student his medicine since the grandmother drops him off at school. I cannot believe this! I finally explained to her that even if he is somewhere else, it is still her responsibility to be the parent and make sure her child gets his medicine he needs. Meanwhile he missed an hour of instruction because we had to wait for the medicine to kick in. UGH! Why do parents think they can be so wish washy with medicine and not care about it?

50 Things All About Me! :)

Many of my blog friends have completed this post so I figured I would jump on the wagon and join them. I am sure this will be a saved post and will take several days to complete. Here we go:

1. My name is Tracey with an "e" and it drives me nuts when people omit it.
2. I am 25 years old and will turn 26 this November.
3. I had my first child when I was 23.
4. I so desperately want another child ASAP.
5. I recently experienced a miscarriage.
6. I never thought I would experience one.
7. I have also experienced a c-section and thought I would never do that either.
8. I am beginning to feel like a walking statistic.
9. My favorite color is pink and I try to wear something pink everyday.
10. I am afraid if I ever had a little girl that she would be covered in pink from the minute she was born and would probably end up hating it.
11. I married my high school sweetheart.
12. I met David in 10th grade but we didn't begin dating until 12th grade.
13. We dated throughout our senior year and then all through college.
14. We were engaged 21 months before we got married.
15. I graduated from college in December 2003 but David did not graduate until May 2004 and we waited until June 2004 to get married.
16. We built our current home and plan to live here forever.
17. We have added on to our house and might add on more later on in the future.
18. I graduated a semester early from college and began teaching at the school where I student taught.
19. I have a degree in special education and have never regretted obtaining that degree and certification.
20. I am currently getting my Masters in Curriculum and Instruction and plan to use this to enhance my teaching skills.
21. Once I have my Masters I am D-O-N-E with school.
22. I am a boring person because I am having a difficult time coming up with more things about me.
23. I have 2 dogs, 1 cat, 2 fish, and 1 snail.
24. We purchased our first Chihuahua shortly after we got married.
25. We got our second Chihuahua as a stray who came with a puppy who died shortly after being born.
26. We adopted a cat when Landon was 9 months old.
27. We just got 2 fish and a snail yesterday for Landon's bedroom.
28. I am a TV junkie and have recently gotten sucked into watching Lost thanks to David.
29. We are members of Netflix and are currently getting Lost episodes to watch the first 3 episodes so we know what is going on and who everyone is.
30. I love houseplants and have a ton currently.
31. The idea of receiving another houseplant as a present or gift excites me and I am always checking out the houseplants section at stores to see what I may get next.
32. I could eat fast type food every day! Pizza, hamburgers, tacos, etc....bring it on!
33. We ate out so much last week that Landon now associates eating dinner with getting in the car and going somewhere to get something to eat!
34. I have cool new shades for my windows in my sunroom. I hope they help with the electric bill this summer!
35. We have little to no shade in our yard at all so our house gets HOT in the summer.
36. 9 times out of 10 I come home from work and put on my PJs.
37 . I am looking forward to the summer wearing elastic waist shorts and T-shirts and hanging around the house.
38. I am such a homebody!
39. I hate confrontation, but will stand up for things like my own child, my students, my husband, or anything else I believe strongly in.
40. I have strong opinions about education and people rarely see my side of things...they usually stem from working with special education though.
41. I really do not collect anything in particular. I hate knick knacks and have very few "things" around my house.
42. My house is not decorated so to say. I mainly have paint on the walls with a few pictures here and there.
43. My taste in music depends greatly on my mood, but I really like something with a strong bass and a good guitar.
44. David says I have a sexy husband....I tend to agree.
45. I hate crowds. They use to not bother me, but I cannot stand them now and rarely go places all by myself because of it.
46. I wear very little jewelry. It always have my wedding rings on and some kind of studs in my ears and that's about it.
47. You can usually tell how I am feeling depending on if I have my contacts in or my glasses on.
48. Wearing make-up isn't a thrill for me. I have no problem going out shopping without it, but almost always wear it to work because I think I would feel "unfinished" without it.
49. I wish I had the kind of hair that I washed and went with. There are days that I do this and you can totally tell.
50. I cannot believe I thought of so many things about myself!

10 Goals for May

Thought I would start something that I can do at the beginning of every month. Too bad it's already the 4th, but better late than never!

1. Lose 5 pounds
2. Complete my current Master's course with an A to maintain my 4.0 GPA
3. Begin my new Master's course organized and ready to learn
4. Send as much money as possible to our 2nd mortgage to keep chopping that thing away
5. Wind down the school year with as little stress as possible
6. Take a month off from TTC and heal emotionally before gearing back up in June
7. Spend more time with David and Landon and less on working while precious time is passing me by
8. Water my flowers every other day to keep them alive
9. Cook as many meals at home as possible and quit eating out so much
10. Finish up some incomplete house projects

I'll keep you guys posted on my progress. I am currently working on all 10 and hope to be able to meet all of them this month.

Billy, Bob, and Slimy!

Yup, we have named the fish and snail. We ended up with two guppies (male) and a snail. So far they are a hit with Landon. He was excited about getting fish to put in his tank. Here is a picture of the tank, a picture of the snail, and then a blurry picture of the fish. It's pretty darn hard trying to get a picture of those fish.

It's Been a Long Week!

Whew! It's Saturday! We started off the day with going to Wal-Mart. I had to work late yesterday serving nachos at Spring Fling (what a way to start the weekend) so I couldn't go on my normal Friday afternoon. We bought Landon a fish tank. He loves to watch fish swim and begs to go look at the fish every time we go so we finally caved and bought him a tank. David set it up and all we have to do now is go buy the fish later after lunch. He is so excited. I will be sure to remember to post a picture of it all set up in his room later. We are hoping the light on the tank will also comfort him at night and he will no longer need the overhead light on.

Work has been so busy lately. I have been working on Education Plans for all of my kids and holding meetings galore for them. Thankfully this is a once a year thing and the craziness will not come again until next Spring! School has been crazy too with everything going on. I have a little over 4 months and I am done. After this, no more school for me for a very long time.

I hope to come on here a little more regular now that things are beginning to slow down and I will hopefully have a little more time. June 4th is the last day of school and I am so ready for it to be here!

Gone...

My sweet baby that we dreamed of holding around Christmas time is gone. I am really just numb about it all right now. There are times that I am okay with it and then there are times that I just want to cry. Thankfully work and school are keeping me really busy right now. I hope to stay occupied with them for a while. David and I will probably take a month or two "off" before trying again. I have never experiences a miscarriage before now and it is something I hope to never have to experience again. That's all I really have to say right now. I am going to focus on moving forward and spending time with Landon and David.
